I’m trying to learn more about wine trading, and will attempt to use this page to jot down all that my ideas. This is a dynamic list of the questions I am hoping to find answers to that would perhaps shed more light onto this oftentimes mysterious world.

6. Is it regulated? I doubt there is any FDIC insurance of any kind, but is there at least some kind of regulatory standards? I think this is a very important question, given that there could be are all kinds of iffy websites out there all claiming to offer “high returns on your investment.”
7. What are some of the reputable wine brokerages?
8. How does one select a wine brokerage?
9. How does the market work? How are the wines priced? Who takes part in the wine auctions?
10. What are the costs involved? Maintenance and storage fees? How much is the broker’s cut?
11. Do investors typically entrust their wines to the brokers for storage, or do they keep it themselves?
12. How to track the market for wines? Is there an index?
