Learning the uprise

Chilly and overcast day today – but I decided to take an outdoor flying trapeze class anyway, instead of a full class indoors. Cold = less people in the class = more turns. 😀

I was content to throw a bunch of different tricks in my limited repertoire today, and did so initially – couple of swings, turnaround swings, layout, pullover shoot. Then Pete encouraged me to learn the uprise, which was awesome, because it’s my goal to master this trick by July anyway.

Chris, Shawn, and Pete all gave me pointers on what to do: hard sweep back into the seven, push through the seven, keeping arms straight all the way. Drive my heels back and lean forward onto the bar at the same time. Sounds easy in theory, but I couldn’t quite put it together after 3 tries. Something to work on!
