Cross Country Skiing along Lake Michigan

Happy Chinese New Year!

The snow came in thick, wet, and fast starting the evening of Chinese New Year, and continued through the night well into late afternoon the second day. It wasn’t too frigid either – perfect conditions for a spot of cross country skiing along the lake front!

So three of us eagerly grabbed our skis and tramped through the icky grey slush that covered sidewalks to the lake front, where the snow was still pristine white. We encountered a dozen other like-minded folks, all merrily swishing their way around the golf course, and along the frozen edge of the lake.

Played around with the pictures I took in Lightroom, just to see the different looks I can create. I’m not certain I love this snowy scene. It’s a gratuitous crop of an otherwise unremarkable picture I took, and I tried to give it a dream-like quality by reducing the clarity and contrast. I think it has some potential, but I don’t know how or what.
