The rains let up after a whole week to give us a bit of respite as we landed in Philly late Friday evening for Wendy and Chris’ wedding.
The sun was out the next morning – what a glorious spring day! We had a leisurely breakfast al fresco at Cafe Ole, an Israeli cafe that serves up a mean shashuka and spiced chai latte. Afterward, we spent another hour wandering down small side streets and public gardens until it was time for my bridesmaid duties.
Beautiful day to get married. The bridal party boarded a trolley, armed with bags of chips and sparkling wine in a can and headed over to the Japanese Garden for pictures. The cherry blossoms were out in force.
We had a good time at the wedding. It’s lovely to see the bride and groom so calm and happy. They make a beautiful fit.
Early Sunday, we scarfed down a quick breakfast (at the dependable Cafe Ole again) and walked across the Benjamin Franklin bridge to Camden, NJ. Visited the aquarium, so we could get our marine life fix. It was fun trying to identify the many fishes we were face to face with underwater, as well as admire the many species of sharks that we haven’t yet met diving.
In all, a quick but fulfilling weekend getaway. We are tired but also recharged at the same time.
