Woke up at 430 am today, in a bid to catch the sun rise over Lake Michigan. Alas, it was a little too overcast at the time, so the pictures I got didn’t excite me. It was still beautiful to watch the red ball of sun slowly rise over the horizon though. Walking back, the reflections of the buildings on the water in Belmont Harbor grabbed me, and I snapped off a series of pictures that ended up as my favorites of the morning.
We warmed up in the car with some piping hot coffee, yoghurt, and granola bars, before hitting the empty tennis courts. It’s remarkable – at 8am when we left there was just two other courts out of 16 that were occupied.
By noon, I was back in bed, while outside the clouds cleared and the city came to live with everyone out and about enjoying this long-awaited snatch of sunshine after 3 weeks of non-stop rain.
