Fish Curry and Wine

Argh. I wanted a bottle of white wine to pair with my fish curry and rice dinner, but I couldn’t find a single bottle of white in our collection. First world problems, I know.

Happily, the 1999 Kathryn Kennedy Syrah Maridon Vineyard bottle I picked instead was phenomenal. It instantly put a smile on my face: Beautiful nose. Deep reddish-brown hue, but the wine still tasted so young and fresh, with luscious ripe fruit. Silky smooth, with a spicy kick at the end of a long finish. So so gorgeous. I only wished we had a couple more bottles, the better to taste at the end of another two years.

Oh and the fish curry was delicious too. Thank goodness for friends like XY who bring spice packets from home when they visit!
